Janadarpan Agartala: Dec 28: The state government has taken a big decision to make the state of Tripura tobacco free. On January 21 ahead of the 50th full state day of the state the government has decided that all educational institutions and government offices will be tobacco free.
On Tuesday, a meeting was held with the officers in charge of all the departments of the district magistrate and collector's at office of the west district. It was decided at the meeting that no employee or person would be allowed to use any kind of tobacco products inside the office and can't keep up with tobacco products.
West Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan said this at a press conference at the West District Magistrate's Office on Tuesday. With this, 73 schools have been declared tobacco free this year. He further said that this is a big step of the government to build a tobacco free Tripura. For now, it has been decided to make all offices tobacco free. This step will be taken for the whole state. This is a very important decision of the government. In order to build a tobacco free state, public awareness will have to be created among the people first. He said steps would be taken next time.
